Forum Rules and Guidelines

1. Please ensure you abide by the following rules and take notice of them when posting anywhere on this site. Whilst we enjoy the company of our guests and invite them to enjoy our resources, we ask that they conduct themselves in a certain manner. Anyone who is not doing so is not abiding by this sites Terms of Service and actions may be taken against them in accordance with whatever the site's owners feel is necessary and it is entirely their decision if and what actions will be taken. You agreed to abide by these terms in registering an account on our forum, so these rules are mandatory. Be aware that all material posted on this site, regardless of with which method (post/pm/attachment) etc, is subject to these rules and may be monitored for moderation purposes.

2. DO NOT spam or self-advertise without prior written permission from the forum owners, this includes private messages sent between users. DO NOT advertise any gaming community related event/site/anything without prior written permission from the forum owners.

2.a DO NOT post the same topic in multiple forums - search and look for the most appropriate place and post it once. DO NOT post free threads, pyramid schemes or referral links without prior written approval from the forum owners. DO NOT post anything which is offensive, hateful, racist, sexist, discriminatory, obscene, vulgar or in violation of local or international laws. In addition, offensive terms may or may not be permitted based on context of the sentence. If they were meant as humour with absolutely no offensive slurs meant, the user may not be banned or put on probation. This rule is completely, 100% subjective and is based on the mod reading the post at the time. Use at your own peril

3. Remain respectful of other users - all posts should be professional and courteous. You have every right to disagree with your fellow community members and explain your perspective. However, you are not free to attack, degrade, insult, or otherwise belittle them or the quality of this community. Subjects of a taboo or potentially sensitive nature should be approached with caution and respect. One account per person - there is no reason for duplicate accounts for the same person. Only one person may use a forum account. Account sharing is not permitted, so please keep your password secure. When registering, a valid email address has to be used. Disposable email addresses are not permitted. DO NOT astroturf or pretend to be/represent somebody else. The official language is of the forum is English. Should you post something in another language, please provide a direct and accurate translation within the same post. No useless posts. This includes: Useless one liners, Flamewars, Trolling and Spamming.

4. When recommending a product to help a user solve their issue, you must disclose any affiliations you may have with the company or group that authors that particular product. This includes, but is not limited to: any paid or non-paid relationships past or present, receiving any promotional products or services, or any other similar information. The rules and guidelines found in this document cover all forum categories within this site. In addition, some of the forums may have additional rules and guidelines that apply specifically. Before posting in any forum, check for any sticky posts containing additional rules. Rules for the complaints section in particular: Only post on a thread if you are directly involved or have insight into an issue that has previously not been mentioned. It is not a place for argumentative debate, it is a place for getting complaints resolved. Help, not hinder. Before you post, think twice about whether you are helping a situation or intentionally aggravating it. Whilst we understand that people have feelings and may wish to help their friends, doing so in an unhelpful manner will not aid anybody or the situation. Complaints should be written concisely, with detail and in a calm manner. Points of courtesy and general posting guidelines: Make sure you have read the parent article/post completely before posting a reply Treat others how you would like to be treated. No-one is here to serve another person and everyone does their roles voluntarily. Bear this in mind and have respect and patience for those that do. Yours may not be the most urgent matter on their to-do list. If you have sent a PM to someone and have not received an answer, be polite. Wait a few days before sending a second PM querying your first and if you receive no response then use other avenue's to address your issue. Our forums are here to help us organise our community and have a place to discuss things. Whilst they are open to the public, they are still private property and should be treated as such. Think of it like a home and the people using the site as the guests. There is a pretty good chance that unless you have some really odd or unique problem that it has been addressed on this forum before (or even lots of times before for some issues).Use the forum's search feature first to see if there are already some good threads on the subject. Be descriptive - if you're posting anything that requires detail to understand - such as a complaint or asking for help on an issue - the more detail you give, the easier it will be for others to understand your problem. Use a descriptive topic subject name - use something that accurately reflects your initial post.

5. DO NOT use attention-seeking titles or ones that DO NOT represent the issue you are discussing. Keep things on-topic. Use your own words. If you wish to use the words of somebody else, quote them, citing the source. Plagiarism is unethical and is illegal in many countries. No back-seat modding. We have more than enough mods and admins here. Please DO NOT act like an armchair admin. Signatures / Avatars: Keep your signature and avatar in good taste, the contents of your signature must be acceptable for the community: no vulgarity, lewd men/women, profanity or insults to other community members. Animation should be kept to a minimum and both your signature and avatar shouldn't be too distracting. DO NOT include spam, harassing links or affiliate links in your signature. However, we will not object to you posting links to either your personal websites or other commercial projects which you support. This is a privilege which you are allowed as a contributing user. Comments and/or links that represent direct competition are not allowed. Editing and Deleting Your Posts/PMs We impose a 15 minute limit on the ability for regular users to EDIT their posts. What this means, is that users have the ability to edit their own posts for 15 minutes after creating it. If for some reason, if a user needs a post changed that is more than 15 minutes old, a moderator can assist them to make the necessary changes (with comments as to alterations). This also means, as a rule, that we DO NOT remove or delete content from our forums. In the case of private messages, they are unable to be cancelled or edited once received by the recipient also. So, before you post, consider this. Legalities: Registration to this forum is free! By using our forums (this includes but is not limited to signing up as a member or even browsing our forums without signing up) you agree to the following: The owner, administrators, and moderators of Simple Play Forums will not be held liable for any objectionable messages posted on this forum, ownership and liability lie with the original poster of the message in question. The owners of Simple Play Forums reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason but are not compelled to do so unless they deem it to be necessary. Questions: If there is a post that you feel violates the above policies, use the 'report' button located on every post/pm. This will make the moderators aware of the issue. You DO NOT need to make further posts elsewhere about the issue and doing so is not encouraged.

6. If your post has not appeared it may be that your account is subject to limitations on requiring moderator approval before it can be viewed. DO NOT post again repeatedly, wait for your post to be approved. The interpretation of these rules is solely up to the owner of this forum and can change at any time without prior notice. If you're unsure about what constitutes a breach of a rule, ask the owner or refer to the most recent precedent in the forum (though since interpretation can change, we cannot guarantee that any precedent you may find still applies so in order to be on the safe side, ask if the precedent still applies). These rules are brand new and don't apply to me. Yes they do. The terms of service states you must abide by these rules and that they are subject to change at any time. In addition, when you login and the rules have been changed, you are required to accept them again before continuing to make use of the forum. The terms of service and privacy policy can be found (when not logged in) at the following addresses: Terms of Service, Privacy Policy Many of these rules are considered fairly generic in terms of forum policies across the web. These rules and guidelines have been heavily influenced by such websites as vBulletin, Joomla, PHPBB amongst others.
